Trevian and SRV selected to build the Oulu Arena
The City of Oulu has selected the Raksila 2.0 business consortium, formed by SRV and Trevian Asset Management, to deliver the Oulu Experience Arena and Environment project. The project aims to develop a multipurpose arena in Raksila district, creating a vibrant, city-serving area for residents and visitors alike in Oulu, Finland’s fifth-largest city, and the most important economic center in Northern Finland.
The project will start with a two-year development and urban planning phase. If the project proceeds as planned, construction of the arena is expected to start in 2028, with completion targeted for 2030.
According to the City of Oulu, key factors in the selection included the overall project concept, the business plan, and the team’s experience in arena developments. The collaboration between Trevian and SRV combines strong real estate investment expertise with top-level Finnish arena construction: SRV is known for delivering the Nokia Arena in Tampere, opened in 2021, while Trevian acquired the former Helsinki Arena, now Veikkaus Arena, in early 2025.

– Oulu is Trevian’s second hometown, and it is great to be involved in developing its vitality and the experiences it offers to city residents with this project. The future of Oulu is important to us, and we want to do our part to promote societally significant projects through our real estate expertise – in Oulu, Helsinki and across Finland, says Reima Södervall, CEO of Trevian Asset Management.
Hannu Lokka, SRV’sSenior Vice President, Strategic Project Development, expresses gratitude for the constructive collaboration and trust from the City of Oulu:
– We thank the City of Oulu for the trust placed in our Raksila 2.0 business consortium and for the interesting and cooperative competition process that has lasted for about 1.5 years. Although the main focus of the competition has been on the plans, conceptualization and economic modelling of the future Oulu Experience Arena, our proposal also serves as a starting point for the wider urban development of the center of Oulu.
Trevian sees the project as a significant opportunity to strengthen Oulu’s position as Northern Finland’s center for experiences and events.
– The Experience Arena will provide modern facilities for sports, culture, and community activities – in a sustainable and responsible way. This is a great continuation for Trevian in the growing arena sector, following the successful Veikkaus Arena project in Helsinki, Södervall adds.
